Salman Khan appeared before a court in Jodhpur for 18-year-old Black-buck poaching case, yesterday.
Salman along with all his ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’ co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Neelam Kothari, Sonali Bendre and Tabu, pleaded themselves “not guilty” in Jodhpur court.
Salman and the other actors were asked a few general questions like names, father’s name, age, residential address and religion before they recorded their statements before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Dalpat Singh Rajpurohit.
To a question with regard to his religion, the Dabang actor replied:
I’m Hindu and Muslim both. I’m Bharatiya.
I’m an Indian.
Salman Khan is son of popular screenwriter Salim Khan and Sushila Charak.
About the allegations posed by the prosecution, the stars pleaded “not guilty”. Salman told the court that he couldn’t have gone out for poaching due to security reasons in evenings or night.
I used to be busy in the shooting in the day and in the night, I used to go to sleep as I was tired. In the night because of security reasons, I never used to go out. I deny all the charges. I have been falsely implicated.
The next hearing is slated to be held on February 15 in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate.
Meanwhile, Salman’s advocate, Hastimal Saraswat interacted with media. Here is what he informed IANS about the case:
We will produce defence witnesses to counter the prosecution as all the allegations are untrue.
All charges against my client are false.
The case against all cine stars is pending since 1998 as they were accused of poaching Black-bucks – a protected animal under the Wildlife Protection Act, during the shoots ‘Hum Saath-Saath Hain’ in the outskirts of Kankani village near Jodhpur.
