In Noor director, Sunhil Sippy’s words, Pakistani author Saba Imtiaz is feeling like a child in a candy store, seeing her book, Karachi, You’re Killing Me, adapted into a feature film. She is ecstatic after watching the trailer of the Sonakshi Sinha-starrer. Speaking to mid-day, Saba says she wasn’t involved in the making of Noor.

“Doing the same project again would be dull. There is thrill in seeing someone else breathe renewed zest into your material. I had suspended my vision and allowed them to paint it in a new light. When the film’s rights were sold, I was in Mumbai. That was two years ago, when the project was still being discussed. Creatively, we (Saba and the makers) never stayed in touch. My interaction with them was limited only to paperwork.”

Has she watched the film? “I’ve seen exactly what everyone else has of the film.” Saba and Sona had exchanged tweets after the first trailer was out, but the author calls herself an average cinegoer.

In an interview with us, Sunhil shared that he’d love to watch Noor with Saba, but the author isn’t sure of her plans. “My labour was the book and this is Sunhil’s. I am not sure when I will watch the film. I live in Jordan. The last Hindi film that released here was Raees. There is no plan to come down to India for the film’s premiere,” she adds.
