Even as the new version of his ’90s chartbuster Tamma Tamma in Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt-starrer Badrinath Ki Dulhania continues topping music charts, Bappi Lahiri has one more reason to smile.

His ’80s composition, Zubi Zubi from Mithun Chakraborty’s Dance Dance (1987), has made it to the soundtrack of Taapsee Pannu’s Naam Shabana. Like Tamma Tamma, this one is also set in a disco.

Earlier this year, the disco king’s 1984 song, Come Closer, from Kasam Paida Karne Wale Ki, was used in Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel’s Lion.

Bappi says, “I am glad that youngsters are enjoying the songs. It’s an honour that three of my hits are popular again. I like the trend of revamping old songs as today’s generation is getting to relate to old numbers again.”

Irrespective of modifications, he adds, the newer composers are bound to retain his hooklines for the songs to click. “I’ve spent 45 years in the industry and am glad my songs are still played in discos. People like my voice and tune; that’s why music directors reworking my tracks retain the original tune.”
